Assistant or Associate Professor of Religious Education
Oklahoma City University, Oklahoma City, OK

The Oklahoma City University, a United Methodist institution, invites applications for an Assistant or Associate Professor of Religious Education. The successful candidate for this nine-month, tenure track appointment beginning August 2011, must have a Ph.D in Religious or Christian Education, Practical Theology, Christian Formation or a related field. Persons with a Ph. D. or an Ed. D. in a related field and a M.Div or MA in a theological discipline will also be considered. A qualified candidate will demonstrate successful undergraduate teaching experience and evidence of academic scholarship. The person in this position will teach religious education, youth ministry and general education courses in the School of Religion. Ability to teach in the area of Church History is an asset. The person in this position will also serve as the director of the Master of Religious Education (MRE) degree. The position may also include teaching a course each year for Saint Paul School of Theology at Oklahoma City University. Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, Evanston, IL



Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary seeks applicants for a position in Christian Education. Priority will be given to an ordained United Methodist Deacon who will also direct the seminary’s Deacon Studies program and the MA in Christian Education. 

Criteria include collegiality; commitment to advising doctoral students; and, teaching both core courses (MDiv, MA, MTS) and doctoral courses (DMin and PhD). The successful candidate will demonstrate excellence in classroom teaching, engagement in research and publication within the field, and administrative experience.  Areas important in position include: human development, theology of education, cross-cultural pedagogy, curriculum design, and research methods.  PhD or equivalent required; appointment rank is open. Claremont School of Theology invites applications for the position of Vice President of Academic Affairs and Dean of the Faculty (VP/Dean). The VP/Dean is responsible for leadership of the academic programs of the School and for administration of support programs relating to the faculty, the curriculum, and the School’s academic partners.  The VP/Dean is an officer of the School, and as such, represents the School to its various constituencies and implements its strategic initiatives.  This includes the unique opportunity to play a key role in shaping the academic development of the University Project (http://www.cst.edu/UniversityProject/index.php), through which Claremont has established a long-term collaborative effort with Jewish and Muslim groups.  Candidates should possess an appropriate doctoral degree and meet the standards for appointment at an advanced academic rank. Associate or Assistant Professor in Religious Studies
Naropa University, Boulder, CO

Naropa University seeks to appoint a faculty colleague to the Master of Divinity program beginning Fall 2011. This innovative program is grounded in Buddhist philosophy, meditative practice and an inter-religious approach to individual and community care final budgetary approval pending.

Duties: Fulltime teaching including courses that support students’ spiritual development and development of applied skills for working as chaplains or socially engaged change agents, campus service, curriculum development, mentoring and research and creative work in the field.

The University welcomes applicants from diverse academic and spiritual backgrounds, preference given to candidates with the MDiv (or equivalent) and a PhD (or equivalent) in Religious Studies. ABD’s are encouraged to apply and may receive initial appointment as Instructor until the doctorate is completed.

Preference for candidates demonstrating personal commitment to contemplative practice and pedagogy; two to three years of teaching; experience with Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training units or equivalent; experience in interreligious dialogue and diversity work; and knowledge of American religious diversity.

The Faculty of Theology/Department of Protestant Theology invites applications for an Associate Professor position in Pastoral Care and Counseling, Psychology of Religion and Religious Education, beginning 01/02/12.

Candidates must hold a doctorate in Theology and have completed a post doctorate (second book or equivalent publications). The successful candidate should specialize in Pastoral Care and Counseling, Psychology of Religion and Religious Education and be able to teach students in both our Theology and Interreligious Studies programs at the BA and MA level. The language of instruction is German.

− teaching experience in Pastoral Care and Counseling, Psychology of Religion and Religious Education
− experience in conducting innovative research in one of the three aforementioned fields (preferably in Pastoral Care and Counseling)

Director of Hybrid Programs

The Director of Hybrid Programs is assigned to lead the development of hybrid theological education programs based at the Seminary’s Charlotte Campus. 

The Program Director provides overall academic and administrative leadership for the distance learning program. This individual is responsible for recommending and implementing the overall design and structure of the curriculum, developing program policies, recommending faculty appointments in accordance with policies, and making admission decisions.

The position reports to the Charlotte Campus Dean. Due to the comprehensive nature of the position, close interaction is required with others such as the Senior Librarian and Registrar in Charlotte, NC and with the Director of Communications & Marketing, Director of Student Account Services, Dean of Enrollment, Director of Semlink and Chief Information Officer in South Hamilton, MA.

Capabilities Required:
Hybrid & Online Education Leadership: Proven success overseeing hybrid and online education programs. Experience overseeing course design, course production, administrative functions and teaching.

Leadership & Project Management: Ability to lead a team and manage projects. This position requires regular collaboration with coworkers at the Charlotte and South Hamilton Campuses.

Management & Supervision: Ability to develop and meet revenue and expense projections. Experience in all aspects of supervision including interviewing, selection, coaching, performance improvement and employee development.

Oral & Written Communication: Ability to proactively and assertively communicate complex information through interactions with faculty, staff, students and vendors.

Research: Proven research, analysis and writing skills. Experience presenting research and recommendations.

Instructional Designer and Technologist
Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, Charlotte, NC

Instructional designer and technologist serves as training and consulting resource for academic leadership and faculty on instructional design. Oversees the technical design, maintenance and enhancement of online courses in a variety of learning management systems. Maintains and supports learning management system functions, including enhancements and upgrades. Serves as training and consulting resource for academic leadership and faculty on instructional technology. Reports to the Charlotte, NC based Director of Hybrid Programs and works collaboratively with the Information Technology and Media Services Teams.

Capabilities Required:
Communication and Relationships: Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to proactively and assertively communicate complex information through interactions with faculty, staff, students, and vendors. Ability to communicate with, motivate, and collaborate with others to meet desired outcomes. Ability to develop productive work relationships with administration, faculty, staff, and vendors.

Experience: One to five years work experience in an educational, corporate training or professional services environment, with an emphasis on e-learning and multimedia technologies. Experience working with faculty in a higher education environment strongly preferred.

Education: A Master’s degree in the area of Instructional Design, Education, Educational Technology, Communications, or Computer Science is preferred; or 4 year degree in similar area with significant work experience that demonstrates comparable acquisition of expertise.

Higher Education: Knowledge in the areas of education and training needs assessment and analysis, research, benchmarking, instructional design, delivery and facilitation techniques, adult learning theory, training evaluation and measurement techniques.  Assists in developing evaluation tools and processes for assessing technology-based and distance education instruction.

Instructional Technologies: Broad knowledge of instructional/educational technologies, distance learning, and related applications. Proven ability to learn new technologies quickly and enthusiastically. Strong hands-on experience with major platforms and Internet browsers; knowledge of web accessibility standards; HTML, including Cascading Style Sheets, Acrobat, Dreamweaver or another editing tool; and MS Office.

Leadership: Vision and dedication to being a pioneer in redefining distance and e-learning for adult learners but with the strong results orientation needed to implement systems and procedures to make this vision a reality.

Course Development:  Experience in online course development using Learning Management Systems in a higher education environment.

-Project and Self Management: Proven ability to manage multiple tasks and deliverables within budgetary and scheduling requirements against strict deadlines. Must accept personal responsibility for task fulfillment and job performance; must be self-motivated professional, and work independently and as part of a team. The Admissions Counselor and Retention Specialist is responsible for telephone and email recruitment of interested students to convert them to applicants and fully enrolled students. Additionally, the Admissions Counselor and Retention Specialist is responsible for student registration, program operations, and student/faculty support and student coaching.

This position reports to the Charlotte, NC based Director of Hybrid Programs and works collaboratively with the Enrollment Management Team.

Faculty Coordinator of Distance Learning Systems
Loyola Institute for Ministry (LIM) of Loyola University, New Orleans

The Loyola Institute for Ministry (LIM) of Loyola University New Orleans invites applications for its Faculty Coordinator of Distance Learning Systems, a tenure-track faculty position starting in fall 2011. Informed by the methodology of practical theology, LIM has offered its graduate and certificate programs onsite around the country and around the world through its extension program for over twenty-five years and online for over ten years.

The faculty coordinator is responsible for the recruitment, orientation, and oversight of the adjunct faculty and facilitators involved in onsite and online programming. The position requires collaboration with faculty and staff in the development of onsite and online learning designs and program materials and consults on group process issues. It also requires oversight of courses in the distance learning programs and includes on-campus and online teaching. The successful candidate will have a terminal degree in theology, religious education, pastoral studies, adult education or another field appropriate for practical theology and will be a member of the Roman Catholic community with knowledge of Catholic theology and its contemporary ecclesial context. Also required is professional experience in ministry and/or religious education, in conducting workshops, group-process training, and educational methodologies/technologies. Some travel required.
