Homiletics and Worship, Lenoir Rhyne LTSS

Lutheran Theological Southern Seminary of Lenoir-Rhyne University, located in Columbia SC, announces a search for a full-time faculty position to teach courses in the areas of homiletics and worship. Candidates must have an earned doctorate in homiletics, liturgics, or a related field (Ph.D. or THD); be an ordained Lutheran pastor and a skilled preacher; and have demonstrated academic excellence in homiletical, liturgical, biblical, or theological disciplines. This person will teach five required and elective courses per year in preaching and in worship within the Master of Divinity and Master of Arts in Christian Ministry curricula, and also participate in the Master of Arts in Religion and Master of Sacred Theology programs. This position entails normal expectations of faculty regarding teaching, academic advising, life in the church and community, committee responsibility, and research and publication. The position will be tenure eligible, and rank will depend on prior teaching experience. The successful candidate can expect to begin teaching in the fall 2015 semester.

LTSS is a seminary of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America serving an ecumenically diverse student body, and the successful candidate is expected to function effectively in an ecumenical context shaped by a Lutheran ethos. The person hired for this position will also place a high priority on the spiritual and pastoral formation of the students, and be committed to the primary mission of LTSS in preparing women and men for public ministry as pastors and leaders in the church.
