Eastern Mennonite University announces a search for the Director of their MA Program in Education, a tenure-track position.
The Director of the Master of Arts in Education program is responsible for the vision, vitality and everyday functions of a successful and innovative CAEP-accredited multi- site program in graduate teacher education. The department’s mission is to increase professional knowledge and competence among current practitioners by developing leadership, becoming agents of change who advocate for children and youth, promoting caring learning environments, and teaching boldly in a changing world through an ethic of care and critical reflection. This half time administration and half–time teaching position (based on a 24 semester hour load extended over a 12 month period of time) directs the Master of Arts main-campus-based program and collaborates with the Assistant Director of the Master of Arts in Education and Associate Provost at Lancaster, Pennsylvania along with teaching duties. The director is responsible for developing and promoting new programs, recruiting, advising incoming MA candidates, planning and evaluating curriculum, overseeing state and national accreditation processes, and formulating and managing budget within the program. The ability to work collegially as part of an integrated graduate and undergraduate program is essential. Demonstration of a strong record of teaching, service and scholarship is also required. Knowledge and interest and/or experience in restorative justice in education is highly preferred.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education: An earned doctorate in education and experience as a P-12 educator along with strong leadership, administration, program development and marketing experience preferred. Teacher licensure, higher education experience, scholarly research, experience with restorative justice in education and knowledge of CAEP (formerly NCATE) desirable.
Special Skills: The ability to work collegially as part of an integrated graduate and undergraduate program is essential. Demonstration of a strong record of teaching, services and scholarship is also required. Knowledge and interest and/or experience in restorative justice in education is highly preferred.
