Wesley Theological Seminary, a seminary of the United Methodist Church in Washington, DC, invites applications for a full-time, untenured, four-year faculty position in Christian Formation and Young Adult Ministry from July 1, 2017, through June 30, 2021. The faculty position is made possible by a grant from the Lilly Endowment for young adult (ages 22-29) outreach.

Responsibilities of this faculty member will be organized into 4 areas related to the grant: a) teach Masters-level courses in Christian Formation and Young Adult Ministry; b) participate in shared administration of the grant; c) provide educational structure and content for the grant; d) create resources for broad dissemination of findings.

Wesley Theological Seminary is looking for candidates who are rooted in the ecumenical Christian heritage and have significant expertise in Christian formation of young adults. Demonstrated competence in the areas of innovation, design theory, congregational change, and young adult ministry is desirable. Competence in online education will be advantageous. Each candidate should demonstrate her or his commitment to effective teaching, active scholarship, enthusiastic collegiality, and collaborative participation in the seminary community. A PhD or ThD in practical theology focusing on Christian formation and ministry or a related discipline is required, although ABD candidates will be considered.
