The Church Divinity School of the Pacific is now hiring a Visiting Faculty of Homiletics and Pastoral Theology.
As Visiting Faculty in Homiletics and Pastoral Theology, this person will further CDSP’s commitment to forming lay and ordained leaders for outward-facing ministry in culturally diverse contexts and in a changing church and world. We seek an engaging, dynamic teacher who bridges the academy, the church, and the world, and who can enable students to articulate and embody a public theology that strengthens the church’s relationships to neighborhoods and local communities. This teacher must be able to guide students into an understanding of the implications of diverse contexts for preaching and pastoral ministry.
Candidates should be prepared to teach at the master’s level, and potentially the doctoral level, at an Episcopal seminary within the ecumenical and interfaith setting of the Graduate Theological Union (GTU), in Berkeley, California.
This appointment is for a fixed term of two years, beginning August 1, 2022, and concluding July 31, 2024. The visiting faculty member will be eligible to apply for the position should CDSP open a search for a permanent appointment.
