FORMA is a grassroots association of members of The Episcopal Church and kindred individuals and institutions. Forma supports, networks, advocates for, resources, and celebrates Christian formation leaders in their Christian formation ministries.

EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR JOB DESCRIPTION

The executive director will report directly to Forma’s Board of Directors and will work collaboratively with the board, seeking advice and counsel from the board’s president. The executive director is responsible for the overall administration of the association and for consistently achieving the organization’s mission and goals, including its financial objectives. The executive director will enact the policy, procedure, strategic plan and programmatic intentions of the board of directors. The first two of these—policy and procedure—is dictated to the director by the board. The second two—strategic plan and program—are determined collaboratively between the board and the director. A high value is placed on the director including the board and other volunteers in the programmatic life of the organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Leadership: Ensure ongoing organizational vitality and programmatic excellence to fulfill the mission. This includes administrative responsibility for the development, promotion, implementation and evaluation of the annual meeting and conference, the certificate programs and organizational collaborations and partnerships.

Management: Engage and grow the organization’s membership, providing support for new initiatives and working groups. Work with the president to develop and support a strong Board of Directors. Web site development and maintenance including: content curation, membership and registration processes.

Budget and Finance: Oversee day-to-day finances and implementation of annual budget. Develop and execute fundraising plan. Establish and sustain systems for regular reporting to treasurer, board and membership on organization’s progress and financial status. Complete annual financial audit and submission of IRS 990. Develop annual and event budgets for board review and approval.

Communications, Marketing and Public Relations: Develop and implement a comprehensive marketing plan to publicize Forma’s activities and establish strong relationships with dioceses, like-minded non-profit organizations and the wider church. Oversee internal and external communications, including: branding, listserv management, development of responsive web and social media strategy and presence.

QUALIFICATIONS

The Executive Director will demonstrate a genuine commitment to the mission of Forma. Concrete experience and other qualifications include:

  •  Exceptional ability to communicate and publicly represent an organization  3+ years of demonstrated leadership experience
  •  Established fund raising experience 
  • Proven ability to manage finances, grow membership and achieve goals
  •  Strong team player able to work effectively with diverse groups of people  Social media and website proficiency

SUPPORT

Near Term: Limited fund available for project support from contractors.

Future: Half time administrative assistant when funds become available Active volunteer board and working groups

COMPENSATION

Total Compensation Package $60,000 Inclusive of Salary, Benefits and Pension. The search committee will be accepting application through March.
