UC-Santa Barbara: Religion and Environment

The Environmental Studies Program and Department of Religious Studies at the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), invite applications for a tenure-track, joint faculty position in Religion and Environment (50% in the Environmental Studies Program and 50% in the Religious Studies Department) at the assistant professor level. Applicants should have a PhD in a relevant field of the humanities or social sciences, with preference given to scholars doing philosophically informed work that demonstrates historical depth and cultural range. An ability to engage issues of values or ethics as they pertain to environmental concerns is essential. Candidates should have a superior record of scholarly research, experience in and enthusiasm for teaching and mentorship at both undergraduate and graduate levels, and strong potential for academic leadership.

UCSB is one of the country’s finest institutions for both environmental and religious studies.

The Environmental Studies Program, established at UCSB in 1970, is one of the oldest and largest programs in the nation, and is recognized as one the most successful undergraduate environmental programs in the world. http://es.ucsb.edu/home
