Open-Rank Professor of Contextual Education and (Field of Specialization)

An open faculty position at Eden Theological Seminary
Eden Theological Seminary (Eden) announces the vacancy of an open-rank professorship of contextual education and the potential faculty colleague’s field of teaching/research specialization. A full member of the faculty, the colleague collaborates with team leaders and faculty at the Seminary to oversee and manage the contextual education program. The Professor of Contextual Education will also coordinate a critical component of the Seminary’s Momentum for Ministry (MoM) initiative, which is supported by the 2025 Lilly Endowment’s Pathways for Tomorrow Large-Scale Collaboration Grant.

SUMMARY OF ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • The colleague in CE is not expected to have a specialization in contextual/field education or have extensive administrative experience in it, but they must have a desire to learn about and grow the CE program as well as exercising leadership for the MoM initiative.
  • The colleague must be an excellent networker and collaborator. They must have an ability and desire to seek out contextual education partnerships with organizations, churches, alumni; and work collaboratively with the faculty as they lead the CE program and a component of the MoM Initiative.
  • An earned doctorate degree (e.g. Ph.D., Th.D., Ed.D., D.Min., etc.) from an accredited seminary or university in a relevant field (e.g. religious studies, theology, education, ministry, etc.)
  • Additional field of specialization is open, but a field in practical theology – or the ability to teach introductory courses in practical theology – is highly desirable. (e.g. educational ministry, counseling, pastoral care, pastoral theology, etc.)

The colleague must have the capacity and purpose to participate actively in the faculty’s ongoing work to intervene in racism, misogyny, and colonialism in our teaching, learning, and institutional life.
