Director of Field Ed, Pittsburgh Theological

Pittsburgh Theological Seminary, a graduate institution of the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), seeks a Director of Field Education with the gifts and the vision to help the Faculty imagine and build a field education program that will equip future leaders to serve in ever changing contexts. This is a faculty position, and the successful candidate will also teach in a field for which he or she holds the requisite academic credentials.

The Director will have administrative oversight and responsibility for the field education program. Duties will include oversight of theological reflection groups, including identifying ministerial and faculty leadership. The Director will also be responsible for recruiting and preparing site supervisors who are committed to the Seminary’s curricular goals and are equipped to participate in the assessment of the progress students are making toward meting those goals.

In addition to teaching, the Director will serve on faculty committees and contribute to the academy and the church. This person must have a commitment to the preparation of women and men for the Christian ministry, be an active participant in the life of a Christian community, and possess the ability to work collegially in a Reformed context.

Tenure and rank are negotiable. A Ph. D. or its equivalent is required. Ministerial
experience is necessary, preferably in more than one context. Women and members of historically underrepresented racial and ethnic groups are especially encouraged to apply.

Send application letter, CV, and letters of reference to the Dean of Faculty at
facultysearch [at] pts [dot] edu. Applications will be acted upon as received, beginning January 20, 2015.
